Questions and answers about COVID-19

Where can I get tested?

You can get tested at NocDoc location at Grusplanen vid Kungliga Borgen, Gärdet. Infart Lindarängsvägen. Stockholms innerstad, Stockholm. We are working hard on making the testing available soon throughout the country.

What tests can I take?

We offer two tests - the PCR test and the COVID-19 antibody test.

You should take a PCR test if you suspect you have an ongoing Coronavirus infection. The PCR test will show if there are traces of the virus in your system. The positive PCR test result means that you are infected with COVID-19. Negative test results indicate that you, most probably, don’t have an ongoing Coronavirus infection.

You should take a Coronavirus antibody test (so-called serological test) if you suspect that you already had an infection and wish to find out if you’ve developed virus antibodies. This test is performed in a laboratory using the ELISA method. All tests we use are CE marked and measure igG antibodies. NocDoc collaborates with accredited laboratories that meet all the Public Health Agency’s quality requirements.

For more information about the tests, please contact our partners - Karolinska University Laboratory, Unilabs, Synlab.

How does the test go?

For the PCR test, our qualified staff member will take a sample from your throat. For the antibody test, our nurse will take a blood sample from your vein.

PCR test can be taken outside; you don’t have to come inside if you came by bicycle or on foot. You can also remain seated in your car. If the weather permits, the antibody test can also be performed outside.

What’s the cost of the test?

PCR test costs SEK 1150

Antibody test costs SEK 495

Medical certificate costs SEK 695 and comes in pdf format in English and Swedish together with the test results.

How long does it take to get the test result?

PCR response within 1-2 workdays in case of negative or positive response. On a very few occasions, the samples need to be analyzed several times to get a conclusive result. Therefore, as with all care providers, there is a risk that you will not receive your test result on the date you expected.

Antibody response within 1 week.

How accurate is the test?

The antibody test has an accuracy of over 99 percent and a sensitivity of over 90 percent three weeks after you experienced the first symptoms. The test is done using the ELISA method, which is the most accurate method on the market now.

The positive PCR test result is considered accurate and indicates that you have an ongoing COVID-19 infection. The negative PCR test outcome is relatively accurate if the test has been performed properly, though there’s been cases when people with the ongoing COVID-19 have tested negatively. Therefore it is crucial that all tests are performed by healthcare professionals.

What will the result show?

There are three possible outcomes of the PCR test:

SARS CoV-2 positive/negative/inconclusive

A SARS CoV-2 positive test result meets case definition criteria for a confirmed case according to the Public Health Agency’s definition. In this case, the testing laboratory will report the positive test result in accordance with the Swedish Contagious Diseases Act on confirmed results.

If you get negative or inconclusive test results but have reasons to believe that you have the active virus infection, we strongly recommend you to take a test

In case of negative or uncertain PCR-test results but with a strong suspicion of being infected with the virus, we recommend you take a test with a new sample that is preferably taken from the lower respiratory tract.

The antibody test will demonstrate whether or not you have developed antibodies to the COVID-19. This test can also produce the result that indicates that you have reactive antibodies. This means that it is impossible to determine whether the antibodies you carry are positive or negative against COVID-19. In this case, it’s not possible to determine whether you have had the virus or not.

If the antibody test shows reactive antibodies in your system, we recommend that you take a new test after two weeks.

Because COVID-19 is a new disease, we still know very little about how strong and lasting the immunity provided by the antibodies is. Therefore, you must follow the Swedish Public Health Agency’s recommendations, even if you have obtained a positive result.
